In [russian]babel
there is a mapping for cyrillic alphabetical numbering. Since the question asked for polyglossia
I copied the definition of that mapping. Then you can redefine the subfigure
counter to use the mapping.
MWE:
documentclass[a4paper,oneside,12pt,serbianc]article
% Serbian language and Cyrillic script
usepackagefontspec
defaultfontfeaturesMapping=tex-text
usepackagepolyglossia
setmainlanguage[Script=Cyrillic]serbian

subfloat[Нешто друго]includegraphics[width=0.4textwidth]example-image-blabelsubfig:four\
captionОпис сликеlabelfig:figure
endfigure
Слика reffig:figure садржи subref*subfig:abcd и subref*subfig:xyzw.
enddocument
Note that I changed the font because I don't have Times New Roman here.
Result:
Thanks. It works like a charm. :)
